The Walk Around Velicke Pleso Tarn

   

Many find Velicke pleso tarn to be one of the most beautiful tarns in Tatra mountains. It´s situated under Gerlachovsky stit - the highest peak of Tatras (2 654,4 m.a.s.l.). Also, 15m high waterfall is falling into this charming lake.

On the right side of the waterfall, during uprising the green path, you can find a rock named Eternal rain. Why this name? The path leads under the wet rocks, where you can enjoy refreshing gentle rain.

On the side of the tarn you can find mountain hotel Sliezsky dom, which is popular starting point for climbing up to Gerlachovsky stit, as well as for shorter hikes, e.g. to Batizovske pleso tarn (1:00h) or Polsky Hreben (2:00h) and Vychodna Vysoka (2:45h) .
